UW Oshkosh CCDET Challenging Behavioral Specialist (CBS) Instructor (2 Course) Renewal

Course Content Approved Instructors of the Challenging Behavioral Specialist Course are required to take a minimum of two Dementia Specialist courses every two years to maintain instructor approval status. By registering for this course you may select two of the one-hour Dementia Specialist short course topics. The two courses must be selected all at once and are available for total cost of $30 per person. There is no requirement to finish the course in one sitting. Intended Audience: Individuals who are listed on the Challenging Behavioral Specialist Approved Instructor Registry and have successfully completed the Challenging Behavioral Specialist Train-the-Trainer classroom training and online assessment. This course will cover: Specialty topics related to people living with dementia. A listing of the available specialist courses is shown below: Dementia Specialist - Activities of Daily Living Dementia Specialist - Discovering Moments of Joy Dementia Specialist - Driving and Dementia for Crisis Responders Dementia Specialist - Enhanced Communication Techniques Dementia Specialist - Epilepsy and Dementia Dementia Specialist - Flow of Day Dementia Specialist - Lewy Body Dementia Dementia Specialist - Maintaining Professional Boundaries Dementia Specialist - Managing Crisis Situations for Crisis Responders Dementia Specialist - Managing Crisis Situations for Healthcare Providers Dementia Specialist - Meaningful Engagement through Activities Dementia Specialist - Preventing Abuse and Neglect for Crisis Responders Dementia Specialist - The Sensory Connection Dementia Specialist - Vascular Dementia Dementia Specialist - Wandering and Exit Seeking Behavior Dementia Specialist - When It's Not Dementia Approximate Course Completion Time: 2 hours (There is no requirement to finish the course in one sitting. You can start now and finish later, up to 6 months). Cost Per Person: $30.

Final Assessment Participants are required to successfully complete a Final Assessment with a score of 80% or better. Two attempts are allowed.
Certificate of Completion and Continuing Education Units Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate of completion stating the number of course hours. Continuing Education Units are available through the University of Wisconsin Extension after successful completion of this training and receipt of a certificate of completion. Application forms will be emailed to you. There is a separate fee for this service.
