The curriculum includes:

  • Adult learning strategies and tips for training your own audience
  • Recognition of common challenging behaviors, resulting from changes in the brain due to dementia
  • Interpretation of common messages the person living with dementia may be communicating through behavior

These materials will be used to train individuals who have completed the Wisconsin Dementia Generalist (for Crisis Responders or Healthcare Providers) online course and are listed on the UW Oshkosh CCDET Dementia Training Registry. Instructors will submit course rosters to UW Oshkosh CCDET with a nonrefundable $5 registry fee for each participant successfully completing the training. If your organization has more than 50 people who you will be training to become Challenging Behavioral Specialists, please contact registration staff at (920) 424-1071 or regstaff@uwosh.edu for special pricing. These individuals will be added to our online publicly accessible UW Oshkosh CCDET Dementia Training Registry as Challenging Behavioral Specialists.
