UW Oshkosh CCDET, in collaboration with WI Department of Health Services, Division of Quality Assurance (DQA), is offering virtual and in person Caregiver Workshops in 2022. Caregiver Workshops

UW Oshkosh CCDET is offering a series of virtual and in person caregiver workshops in 2022. Available workshops include Continuing Education for Caregivers: Training for Trainers and Investigating & Reporting Allegations of Misconduct for DQA-Regulated Providers. These workshops are partially subsidized by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Quality Assurance (DQA).

Continuing Education for Caregivers: Training for Trainers:
The virtual workshop offers two 2-hour sessions at a cost of $110 per participant for both sessions or $70 for one session. The in person workshop provides a 6-hour training at a cost of $170 per participant. These trainings introduce participants to over 30 hours of Caregiver Project training materials designed to prevent abuse and neglect, improve professional caregiving skills, increase quality of resident care and meet continuing education requirements for caregivers. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to train direct caregivers and other staff in their own facilities.

Investigating & Reporting Allegations of Misconduct (for DQA-regulated providers):
This 4-hour workshop will be offered virtually and in person. The cost for attending virtually is $110 per participant and $140 per participant for the in person session. This workshop will help participants identify the key components of conducting internal investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect and misappropriation.

5 STEPS TO CAREGIVER BACKGROUND CHECKS – NEW VIRTUAL WORKSHOP!
This 2-hour virtual workshop at a cost of $70 per participant provides information to identify steps necessary to complete caregiver background check on individuals covered under Wisconsin’s Caregiver law, evaluate background check results relating to hiring and continued employment, understand the Rehabilitation Review process and utilize resources available to support the caregiver background check process.

Caregivers SOAR! Train the Trainer Workshops
Encouraging Success, Opportunity, Advancement and Retention

This 4-hour workshop at a cost of $150 per participant offered by UW Oshkosh CCDET, is designed to promote job satisfaction and retention among caregivers in long-term care, with a focus on soft-skills training. Topics include communication skills, sympathy vs. empathy, conflict resolution, dependability, professionalism, and relationship building in the workplace. Individuals attending the training will have access to ready-made training materials to train staff members. Continuing Education Unit applications are also available to those successfully completing this training.
